Dr. Kemi Amola-Hill started her own business, V.O.I.C.E. Therapeutic Solutions, in 2010, to provide an array of therapy and counseling services to underserved communities in the Raleigh-Durham area. As her firm expanded, Amola-Hill had to relocate every few years in order to accommodate the growth, and she began looking into purchasing her own office space to provide stability for both employees and clients.

Amola-Hill was pursuing a loan with another lender when a friend introduced her to Louis Rogers at BEFCOR. Amola-Hill says BEFCOR offered more favorable terms and superior customer service.

“He was just so friendly and very professional and took the time to explain everything so that I understood the intricacies of the loan,” she says. “The other bank didn’t take that time. BEFCOR made sure I felt comfortable.”

After securing her SBA 504 loan with BEFCOR, Amola-Hill ultimately closed on a 2,500-square-foot office condo. With a monthly mortgage payment lower than her previous rent, she was able to hire additional staff to keep up with demand. Today, she has six employees on site and eight outpatient therapists.

“It’s a great service for business owners to have access to that capital,” she says. “It’s a streamlined process, and BEFCOR was very understanding and affirming.”
